Norman Collins, AKA Sailor Jerry, became a sailor at age 19 and traveled the world with the US navy. In his travels he experienced the body art of Southeast Asia and various other parts of the world. He later opened his first tattoo shop in Honolulu's Chinatown area, a hangout for US sailors and other tough gents.

During this time only the Chinatown area housed tattoo shops making it a community of tattoo artists.

His work shows the life at sea that he and other sailors lived. The bold colors and dark thick lines are typical of the American tattoo style Sailor Jerry pioneered. While, various artists today copy Jerry's style his unique and time-tested tattoos can still get a stare!

Above is just a small collection of the tattoo flash done by Sailor Jerry. To see more go to www.sailorjerry.com
